On Sunday 2/24/08, we graduated 11 boy scout and cub scout leaders in the most recent Northstar Course. An action packed full weekend with the best comments being the Astronomy class taught by Randy Smith. Participants experienced camping by patrol, patrol spirit, cooking, wood tools, map and compass, first aid, ceremonies, campfire program, and knots and lashings.
South Oaks Baptist Church has started a new Venture Crew. The contact person is John Houters. We will be meeting after the troop meeting every Monday at South Oaks Baptist Church. More information to follow.
Thanks, John Houters
Dear Scout Leaders: Do you know scout troops that do good things for your neighborhood?
The Planetarium at UT Arlington is offering a number of Saturday programs in January and February focused on scouting astronomy-related badges. Individuals or troops should contact Marc Rouleau at (817) 272-0822 to reserve space for any of the programs. A minimum of 20 people is required for each session, and the sessions will be capped at 50. Prices will be $15 per scout and $10 per adult. The cost will cover supplies and a number of activities and shows, plus a snack. Participants will also get a special planetarium button.
This training is a necessity for Cubmasters, Webeloes Den Leaders and present Bear Den Leaders who will move to Webeloes next year. These leaders should consider this training in order to provide a program for growing boys and to help with the retention rate during the transition from Webeloes to Boy Scouts.
In Boy Scouting, this training is for all adults currently registered in a Boy Scout Troop,
Well everyone, Camporall has once again come and gone. Everything ran pretty smooth, except for the retrieval of The Colors on Sarurday evening. If I did not know better, I would think that The Colors are still upset with me for last year. If you were there, you know what I am talking about.
