All website information (calendar, news articles, and unit information) is viewable without an account. An account is only necessary if you are going to post information to the website (and special permissions are still required) or if you want to be included on one of the district's e-mail distribution lists. While anyone is welcome to view the information, there is no need for Scouters outside the Tejas District to have an account.
There are a couple of key issues to be aware of.
I need a form for each Troops Project coach. The Project coach registration form is attached below.
If a scout gets the Home Depot cards, the fundraising section must be filled out. They are approved by sending to the Council Finance Department, Michael Wright. His email is miwright [at] bsamail [dot] org.
Tour Permits are needed if participants are not getting to Project via parent.

The annual Tejas District recognition dinner has just been scheduled for Friday, 23 March 2012 at the Rush Creek Christian Church. The annual business meeting (for all Chartered Organization Reps and District Committee members) will be at 6:30.

The Tejas District is accepting nominations for the 2011-2012 District Award of Merit to be presented at the District Recognition Dinner on 23 March.

The Longhorn Council Wood Badge Awards Selection Committee is accepting nominations for the three recognitions:
Wood Badge Award of the Year – recognizes sustained service to Scouting and Wood Badge.
Distinguished Service to Wood Badge – recognizes significant service to Scouting and Wood Badge over
the last year.
Wood Badge Legacy Award – recognizes a Wood Badger that through life long service has obtained the
goal of leaving a legacy.

Anyone interested in serving on a Wood Badge course staff is invited to attend the Future Staffers Reception prior to the dinner. Come see what being on a WB staff has to offer - it is fun and rewarding in many ways.
Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course will be offered in January on the following dates:
- January 3 & 4 (Tue/Wed), 7-10pm
- January 7 (Saturday), 9am-1pm
- January 10 & 11(Tue/Wed), 7-10pm
Please note that to receive credit for the Wilderness and Remote First Aid course you must complete ALL sessions (16 hours) and possess a current and valid CPR/AED certification. For those whose CPR/AED certification has expired, or those who want a refresher, I will teach CPR/AED on January 17th.

The new Eagle Scout Project Workbook has been introduced. The new workbook is included in the link below. Either one can be used at this time. The new workbook will be required beginning January 1, 2012. There will be more details on the particular changes over the coming weeks. The new Guide to Advancement has offically released. It has been sent to the printer and should show up in the scout shops in the very near future. The Link to the guide is listed below. There are several sections that the Council Advancement Committee is still discussing on how to implement in the Longhorn Council. As those decisions are made, the information will be passed along to the Districts in Longhorn Council.

There is a National push to have all units using Internet Advancement. This is part of the Journey to Excelence program as well. At some point in the near future, uploads from all Third-Party software will not be allowed to upload anymore. The 2011-12 Tejas District District Calendar was developed at the May district committee meeting and is available in the attached MS Word file. Each event will be added to the monthly Tejas calendar over the next few days, but the atachment whould provide all information in one concise document.
