BSA Longhorn Council Tejas District

The following training courses are put on by the council and are listed here for reference and to present the total training picture. Key personnel and links to appropriate web pages will be given when known.

1. Guiding Star - Outdoor Skills Training

   This is supplemental outdoors skills training for all adult Scout leaders. The course is held during a weekend each fall at LSR.

   Subject matter varies; some examples include: first aid, pioneering, astronomy, backpacking, orienteering, CPR certification, climbing/rappelling, to list a few.

4. Train the Trainer
   This course is offered at least once a year, with a second course added as deemed necessary by the Council Training Committee.

   It is intended for all staff members or potential staff members for any training course. Topics covered include: effective teaching techniques, guidelines for conducting group discussion, demonstration techniques, audio/visual material preparation and utilization, training materials available to the trainer, etc.

   The course last all day Saturday.
